Membership – Overview

The Association of Bermuda International Companies (ABIC) was formed in 1971 as the International Companies Division of the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce. We adopted the ABIC name and logo in 2001.

ABIC has more than 130 members, representing a cross-section of Bermuda’s international companies, including insurance, reinsurance, financial services, trading, shipping and investment companies.

The objectives of the ABIC are to develop, encourage, promote and protect the commercial, professional, financial and general business interests and economic well-being of its members and of Bermuda.

ABIC takes its social responsibility seriously and is a a substantive contributor to the Bermuda community through its educational programs. The Association also keeps the community abreast of the contributions made by the international companies for the positive welfare and development of Bermuda.

ABIC is managed by an Executive Committee of 21 members, who are elected at the ABIC's Annual General Meeting. The many responsibilities of the Executive Committee include:

  • Representing the interests of the members in all areas in which they operate.
  • Collecting and disseminating information and data regarding the member companies.
  • Providing advice and assistance to Government in matters affecting international business in Bermuda.
  • Promoting the betterment of the social and business life of the Islands of Bermuda.
