The Association of Bermuda International Companies (ABIC) is offering a post-graduate scholarship, in conjunction with Georgia State University's highly regarded Department of Risk Management and Insurance.

The Risk Management and Insurance Department at Georgia State University is the largest academic department focused on risk management education and research among U.S. universities. The department specializes in understanding, quantifying, financing, and developing strategies for managing the risks faced by individuals, organizations, and society.

For the tenth consecutive year, U.S. News & World Report ranked the Robinson College of Business FLEX (part-time) MBA program among the top 10 in the nation and, since 1999, has ranked the risk management program among the top 10 in the nation. Purpose:

The purpose of this Fellowship is to attract talented and qualified individuals into any of the master's degree programs offered by the Department of Risk Management and Insurance at Georgia State University.

Awards:

A graduate research assistantship will be provided by EFI to fellowship recipients in the amount of $2,000/fall and spring semesters and $500/summer semester, which also provides for waiver of tuition ($14,232.00 full-time enrollment for 12 or more credit hours - 2010/2011 year), per semester.

A housing allowance will also be provided by ABIC, based on the Georgia State University apartment's rate (approx: $8,500.00 - $10,000/year for the 2010/2010 year).

This award is renewable based upon satisfactory performance, for up to 2 academic years.

Requirements:

The Fellow is required to engage in a Robinson College of Business masters' degree program through the Department of Risk Management and Insurance as a full-time student, maintaining good academic standing at all times. A student may hold the Fellowship for a maximum of two years, with reappointment contingent upon maintaining good academic standing.

Eligibility:

Eligible Fellows will be drawn from citizens of Bermuda pursuing graduate studies in insurance, actuarial science or risk management. Candidates must be accepted into a master's degree program of the Robinson College of Business, administered through the Department of Risk Management and Insurance. ABIC and the faculty committee screens all applicants for the fellowship, and ABIC will recommend and rank final applicants. The faculty committee will select the final recipient. A recipient may hold the Fellowship for a maximum of two years, with reappointment contingent upon maintaining good academic standing.
