A message from our Chairman

George Hutchings
Chairman

ABIC was formed in 1971 as the International Companies Division of the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce. In 2001, given the dramatic growth of the international business sector in Bermuda, we incorporated ABIC as an independent organisation in order to better address the needs of our membership. We still maintain a close working relationship with the Chamber, and all ABIC members automatically receive membership to the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce.

Our vision is to be the voice of international business in Bermuda and presently ABIC represents more than 130 international companies physically located in Bermuda, who between them employ the vast majority of the personnel in this sector.

Through partnerships with Regulatory, Government and Professional Organizations, ABIC  promotes and preserves a sound business environment for the International business community, and ensure that Bermuda continues as the business domicile of choice.

ABIC administers the ABIC Education Awards, an annual scholarship scheme formerly known as the International Companies Education Awards Program (ICEA). Our objective is to raise funds to enable local students to pursue higher education abroad, primarily in international business-related fields. This award scheme has been in place for more than 30 years and helped over 500 Bermuda students achieve their educational objectives.

We also lead other initiatives to keep Bermudians informed about the contributions international companies make to the welfare of their country.

Our members believe in and work to ensure that Bermuda remains the premier center from which to conduct international business. We hope that if you are not yet a member you will join us, and that if you are, you actively tune in to this site to make your opinions known to us, and in turn, to the other business and government leaders of Bermuda.
